Proteins are a source of energy and body's building blocks. We need to eat them on a daily basis in the right amount next to veggies. With protein we need to be more careful when comes to our daily recommendation. When we exercise or have physical work we can excess the recommendation, actually we should do so. However, for people who do not exercise a lot or have a sedentary lifestyle it should be no more than 55g a day.
